About – TAAD

Background

Despite the presence of more than one association of the theatre groups of Bangladesh, there has not been any association so far to work with the goal to meet theatre artist’s rights, interest and demands as well as to develop artistic eminence. The background of the theatre artist’s struggle is unique from region to region. So, not only on the national level but also locally the theatre artists need to be united to extort their own rights. With this goal, an initiative was taken to establish an association that represents the theatre artists on and off stage in Dhaka Metropolitan. On 19 October 2024, 02 Kaartik, 1431 Bangla year Theatre Artists’ Association of Dhaka, TAAD, was established.

Our Goal

Our Objectives

To create a mutual relationship between the on-stage and off-stage theatre artists currently active within Dhaka Metropolitan.
To ensure financial security of the members, undertake long-term projects like welfare trust, café, theatre club, theatre complex and others.
To undertake activities to exchange knowledge, ensure improvement and capacity building between the members.
To take various initiatives and effective steps to establish theatre as a profession.
To ensure the right of theatre practice, preservation of interest and professional stature.
To create a free environment for the theatre artists to have freedom to express their opinions and direct creative activities.
To enhance the cooperation, exchange and networking between the theatre artists in local, national and international level.
To create partnership with government and non-government organizations, educational institutes and theatre groups.
